Biographies Panel Moderator: Scott Arthur Radio Host -Star 790 KBME Owner, Arthur and Associates Scott is a 34-year veteran of radio and television. Born in Baltimore and raised in New Jersey, he began his career during college in Philadelphia, as he became the city’s youngest full time radio personality. He has since hosted talk shows; music shows and anchored news. Scott has appeared in three movies and directed, produced and hosted television shows in Miami, Austin and Houston. His TV work includes local PBS shows, commercials, all night movie shows and a cable sports show. Scott is also owner of Arthur and Associates, a Houston based Public Relations and Advertising firm. Through his company, he has written and produced Public Service and Commercial projects for radio and television featuring George Bush, Clint Eastwood, James Michener, Danny DeVito and Gerald Ford. Scott was the Public Relations Director for the Houston Hard Rock Café for ten years and is currently the Media Relations Consultant for Houston’s Star of Hope Homeless Mission. After 20 years as Houston’s "Morning Man" on KQUE-FM, he is now the weekday morning radio host on the city’s STAR 790 KBME. Asked to name some of the highlights of his life, Scott lists his flight with the Navy’s Blue angels, his meeting with four American Presidents of the United States and his friendship with many show business luminaries and legendary astronauts. Jamey Rootes accepted the position of Vice President Sales & Marketing of the Houston Texans in February of 2000 and was promoted to Senior Vice President in May of the same year. Now, as Chief Sales & Marketing Officer, he is responsible for all revenue generating and branding activities of the team. Since joining the Texans, Mr. Rootes has overseen the team’s efforts to secure stadium naming rights and sponsorship, coordinated radio and TV broadcasting relationships, engineered the club’s successful PSL and suite sales campaigns, led the successful launch of the team’s identity, and helped develop the team’s highly-acclaimed customer service strategy. Since their Inaugural Season, the Texans have earned several distinctions, including the American Marketing Association’s "Crystal Award" for the best overall marketing campaign and J.D. Power & Associates recognized the team for providing the best fan experience in the NFL. Also, Sports Business Daily and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst’s Sports Management Department recognized the Texans with the 2002-2003 PRISM Award, which is given annually to the top major league professional sports team based on business excellence criteria. In 2003, Rootes assumed a number of new duties at the Texans, including management of senior executive relationships with key Texans business partners, coordination with the NFL and Houston’s Host Committee regarding Super Bowl XXXVIII, and management of gameday service delivery. Rootes and his team created a novel service initiative (the S.T.E.P. Program) to guide off season event planning and development activities which has helped the Texans and Reliant Stadium achieve league leading customer service scores from fans and professional "secret shopper" services. Rootes also oversees Lone Star Sports & Entertainment (LSSE), an event management and business development company affiliated with the Houston Texans that manages non-Texans events in Reliant Stadium. In this capacity, he has helped secure such marquee events as the U.S. vs. Mexico soccer match on May 8, 2003, which drew the largest soccer crowd in Texas history and was named the best soccer crowd of 2003 by US Soccer. LSSE also hosted the largest crowd of the 2004 Interliga Copa Libertadores qualification tournament with over 30,000 attendees on January 11, 2004. In 2002 and 2003, Rootes was selected by Sports Business Journal as a member of their distinguished "Forty Under 40" list of leading sports executives, and in 2003, Rootes completed Harvard University’s prestigious General Manager Program. In the community, Rootes serves on a number of community boards, including the Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Downtown Alliance, Junior Achievement, Teach For America and the South Main Center Association. Rootes joined the Texans with a solid track record of success. Prior to joining the club, Mr. Rootes was the President of the Columbus Crew and Crew Stadium. Under his leadership, the Crew developed the league’s largest season ticket base, highest average attendance and strongest brand. During his tenure, the Crew introduced the first-ever major league, soccer-specific stadium in the United States. In 2000, Crew Stadium named the "Foremost Sports Facility of the Year" by the International Sport Summit. Rootes helped the Crew advance to the Eastern Conference finals for three consecutive years from 1997-1999. In 1996, Rootes was named MLS Executive of the Year. In 1999, the American Marketing Association recognized the Crew as Marketer of the Year and Rootes as Major League Soccer’s Marketing Executive of the Year. A native of Stone Mountain, Ga., Rootes attended Clemson University and was a member of the Tigers’ soccer team that captured two NCAA titles served as Student Body President. While earning an MBA at Indiana University, he served as an assistant soccer coach for the Hoosiers. Mr. Rootes has previously held marketing and sales positions at IBM and Procter & Gamble. Rootes lives in West University with his wife Melissa and their children Christopher and Caroline. Prior to joining Administaff, McCollum was Vice President and General Manager, Corporate Division, for Neiman Marcus. He also served as Vice President, Corporate Division, for Tiffany & Co. and managed sales operations for Xerox Corporation. McCollum earned bachelors and masters degrees from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Pam Lockard, President of Direct Marketing Network (DMN), is one of only a few hundred Certified Professional Direct Marketers in the United States. In 1982, she began her entrepreneurial career by co-founding a graphics and printing company called Graphic Media Group. DMN was founded in 1986 as a one-stop direct marketing firm. Pam’s background includes direct marketing and event promotion work for many well know companies including JPMorgan Chase, Methodist Hospital, Fiesta, Reliant Energy, Rice University Athletics, Shell Lubricants, Wells Fargo Bank and Southwest Bank of Texas. | ||||||
She has received numerous awards from the Houston Advertising Federation and the Direct Marketing Association, where she won an acclaimed international Gold Echo Award. She’s published articles in Advertising Age, the Houston Business Journal and Direct Magazine, among others.
In October 2003, DMN was recognized as one of Houston’s 50 largest women-owned businesses and one of the 100 largest Houston small Businesses. Based on one year revenue growth, DMN also received an honor as the second fastest growing woman owned business in Houston. |
